{"id":128,"date":"2017-08-24T15:32:54","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T15:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wordpress\/?page_id=128"},"modified":"2019-02-28T11:15:05","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T16:15:05","slug":"geofences","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/index.php\/geofences\/","title":{"rendered":"Geofences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back to&nbsp;<a href=\"\/index.php\/settings\/\"><strong>Settings<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Geofences are virtual boundaries created on your account to keep track of vehicle movements in defined areas. There are two main ways a Geofence can be used: as a region or territory to be alerted when your drivers leave the defined area, or to mark an individual locations that your drivers frequent regularly. You can set up the geofence alert to be alerted when your drivers enter and exit geofences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Creating a Geofence for an individual location<\/strong><br \/>\nTo create a Geofence, go to the Settings tab and select Geofences from the sub-menu and click on \u201cNew Geofence\u201d on the right hand side. Give the Geofence a unique name to identify the specific area and enter the location address and click \u201clocate\u201d to locate the address on the map. Next click the the dropdown box in the upper left corner of the map and select satellite view to see the outline of the area. You can then adjust the shape to cover all of the parking area for that location. You can either drag on the circle\u2019s edge to make the radius larger, or you can select one of the other shape options from the toolbar at the top of the map. Once set, click the \u201ccreate geofence\u201d button at the bottom of the screen. Geofences should have unique names and should not overlap, allowing them to be clearly identified.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-856\" src=\"http:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Creating_Geofence.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1868\" height=\"917\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Creating_Geofence.png 1868w, https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Creating_Geofence-300x147.png 300w, https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Creating_Geofence-768x377.png 768w, https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Creating_Geofence-1024x503.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Creating a Geofence as a Region\/Territory<\/strong><br \/>\nTo create a Geofence as a Region or Territory, go to the Settings tab and select Geofences from the sub-menu and click on \u201cNew Geofence\u201d on the right hand side. You can create the Geofence area as large as you need, but you must type in a starting address to position the map. It can be as generic as just a city name and state for a large territory\/region or you can use a full street address. Zoom out as necessary to set the shape. You can either use the Radius dropdown box on the left to change the size of the circle, grab the edge of the circle and click and drag to the desired size, or use the last option on the toolbar at the top of the map to create a custom shape by clicking the connecting the dots.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-858\" src=\"http:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Region_Territory.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"509\" height=\"61\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Region_Territory.png 509w, https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Region_Territory-300x36.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>***YOU MUST CLICK THE \u201cREGION\/TERRITORY\u201d CHECKBOX ON THE LEFT FOR THE SYSTEM TO REPORT THE INDIVIDUAL STREET ADDRESSES WITHIN THE TERRITORY***<\/p>\n<p><strong>Geofence Options<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Geofence Alert<\/strong> &#8211; alerts when drivers enter and exit the Geofence<br \/>\n<strong>Geofence Speeding Alert<\/strong> \u2013 you can set a specific speed limit for a geofence by entering the limit in the Max Speed field and turning on the Geofence Speeding alert in the Alerts section<br \/>\n<strong>Operating Schedule<\/strong> \u2013 you can set a schedule for when you want the Geofence alerts to be sent. You can create the schedule in the \u201cSchedules\u201d link under Settings as one the Geofence schedule options (in Type dropdown box). Then when setting up the Geofence, select that schedule from the Operating Schedule dropdown box.<br \/>\n<strong>Landmarks<\/strong> \u2013 you can add a landmark (map marker) to identify the Geofence location on the map. Check the \u201cCheck Here if Landmark\u201d checkbox and select a picture from the categories below. Landmarks can be color-coded if needed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-857\" src=\"http:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Geofences_Options.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"513\" height=\"783\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Geofences_Options.png 513w, https:\/\/wiki.intouchgps.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Geofences_Options-197x300.png 197w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Geofence Report<\/strong><br \/>\nA special report titled \u201cGeofence Events\u201d is available in the Reports suite that lists each time a vehicle enters and exits Geofences and lists the duration of time spent in each. You can filter the report to show all Geofences on the account, or isolate an individual Geofence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mass Creation of Geofences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A list of geofences can be uploaded for you, if you have a large number to input. This list must be submitted in a specifically formatted CSV file, for which we can send you a template. All geofences uploaded in this manner will in the shape of a circle, however you can determine the radius to use.
